Audacity and Podcasting

UGH what an ordeal! I did not have audacity on my work computer. So Carol installed it for me. However, I do not have a webcam or a microphone on my computer. So I completed this lesson at home. I was very happy to see how easy it is to use audacity but I still don't really understand how you would save the items and then put them into something like a blog or class project. I am sure there is a ton of information on how to do all that. But right now I am overwhelmed with the tech things I am able to do at work that I do not want to put the energy into something I don't really understand. I would like to set audacity as a goal for next year.

As for the podcasting, last year (about this time) I started with a few sites for my students. One was on eating healthy and the other two were on manners and grammer. They all were cute but because I have limited access to my students I felt we had too many other things to work on. Little by little we stopped listening to the podcasts. I included the links, this way if someone thinks they could be helpful you will have them.

  1. I totally understand that when the technology doesn't work well, it can be frustrating..

My first thought about using Audacity or Podcasting is... would you ever want to "post" anything that can be listened to or downloaded?

Spelling words? Notes for a lesson? Notes for a test or project?

Recording them on Audacity and posting them up would be an easy way to get your auditory learners the material for them to study or go over.

I have had my students do both a Podcast on a topic (e.g. Computers, etc.) or do a Podcast using notes from another class. This shows them how they can use this technology to learn and/or study differently. I remember I used to do this with my notes, except I had to record them using a tape player onto a cassette tape.

Good luck with exploring this more...

    Good Job.

  2. Amen to the frustrating part of technology. I was able to download audacity on my home computer but got stuck from there. My daughter came home and showed me what to do. Thank God for the youth that live with me. They keep me up to speed on what's going on in the world.
